der, Zufluss des Kaspischen Meers in Iran, etwa 100 km lang; entsteht durch die Vereinigung von Ghesel Ausan und Schahrud, mündet mit breitem Delta nordöstlich von Rescht. Kurz nach der Vereinigung der Quellflüsse ist er zu einem See (55 km2) aufgestaut, der der Bewässerung im südkaspischen Küstentiefland sowie der Energiegewinnung dient. Im Tal des Safid Rud verläuft die wichtigste Straße zwischen dem iranischen Hochland und der Niederung am Kaspischen Meer.
